Department Of Food and Civil Supplies has launched Ration Card List Assam in order to provide eligibility status among the applicants who have recently applied for the ration card. It is only after viewing and getting names displayed in this list, the cardholders will be able to get foods purchased at the concessional rates that have been fixed by the government as per the categories of the ration card.

The Government of Assam has launched the Assam Ration Card List so that poor family groups may be able to get some sort of help from the government. Ration Cardholders have the right to get foods provided by the government at the minimum rates as compared to the original price or rate of the food product.

Objectives Of Assam Ration Card List

One of the main and primary objective of launching the Ration Card List Assam is to provide some sort of help and support among the poor family groups who can’t purchase food items or products for sustaining their livelihood. For those, ration cards will help a lot. Income will be the basic criterion for allocating the ration card to the applicant.

Another objective of launching the Assam Ration Card List is to provide subsidies for the purchase of food products. There are 3 categories of ration cards that have been fixed by the government. Profit provided to the ration cardholder may be varying from one card to another. It will also provide relief among the sufferers of the covid-19 virus.  

Categories Of Ration Card

There are 3 major categories of the ration card which have been fixed by the government are as follows: –

Type of Ration Card	Description
APL (Above Poverty Line)	Those applicants who fall above the poverty line will be provided with the APL. No income limit has been specified to the APL cardholders
BPL ( Below Poverty Line)	BPL ration cards will be provided to those applicants who fall below the poverty line and have a family annual income equal to Rs. 27,000
AAY (Antyodaya Ration Card)	Those applicants who have an annual family income equal to Rs. 1 lakh will be provided with the AAY ration card. For those, the government will offer Rs. 2 per KG for wheat and Rs. 3 per KG for rice

Some of the other categories of the ration card are as follows: –

• Orange Ration Card: – Those applicants who fall above the poverty line can apply for the Orange Ration Card. But the income fixed by the government for providing orange ration cards may be varying from one state to another state. Maybe the benefit of this card will also differ from one state to another.
• Yellow Ration Card: – Yellow Ration Card is only accessible to those applicants who fall below the poverty line category. Each state has different kinds of parameters while considering the annual family income of the cardholder which may vary from one state to another.
• Blue Ration Card: – Those family groups having an annual income equal to Rs. 6400/- can apply for the blue ration card and falls below the poverty line. Blue Ration Cardholders will be provided with grains, food, and kerosene at a subsidized rate. The amount of grains may be varying from one state to another.
• Pink Ration Card: – Pink Ration Card will only be provided to those applicants who have an annual income of more than Rs. 6400 per annum and who also fall above the poverty line. After getting this card, applicants can get various food items provided by the government at a subsidized rate.
• White Ration Card: – This card is not used for availing the subsidy facility for purchasing food grains rather than it is used by those family groups who are financially rich. For them, this card serves as an Identity as well as address proof. No subsidy rate is provided on this card.

Assam Food & Civil Supplies Corporation

The union cabinet has approved the formation of the AFCSC (Assam Food & Civil Supplies Corporation) as a Public Sector Enterprise. This corporation has limited shares. This corporation works under the provision of The National Food Security Act, of 2013. To this corporation, state and central government deliver edible essential commodities. Some of the functions of this corporation are as follows: –

• To distribute the edible essential commodities among the consumers of the state of Assam.
• To develop Producer Companies for handling agricultural products.
• To provide production and support services to the farmers, communities, and cooperatives.
• Act as a nodal agency in food procurement.

National Food Security Act (NFSA)

The government of India launched the NFSA (National Food Security Act) on 10^th September 2013. This act has been specially launched for providing benefits to the poor section of the state of Assam. A target of covering 55 lakhs of households has been covered. Rs. 5 kg for rice will be provided.

Procurement Of Paddy/Rice

The Government of Assam is undertaking the procurement of Paddy or Rice under the provisions of “The Assam Paddy And Rice Procurement Order, 1955”. This order has been issued by the Government of India. Procurement of rice has been undertaken in the selected Revenue Districts of the State with FCI and Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board.

MSP Of Paddy/Wheat

The Minimum Support Prices of the Paddy or Wheat are as follows: –

The Governor of Assam is pleased to fix the MSP of Kharif Crops Season for the procurement of Common and Grade-A varieties of Paddy crops.

Grievance Redressal Service

The Government of Assam has provided Grievance Redressal Service or Online Complaint Monitoring System so that the citizens can lodge their companies related to the Public Distribution System (PDS) through this portal. And they can also dial 1967 helpline no. for lodging their grievance. The grievance will get forwarded to the concerned authorities for the facilitation of Grievance Monitoring.

Supervision Authority

For providing proper supervision or monitoring for the price of the essential commodities, the government has hired officers of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs in each district as well as a sub-division of the state of Assam. These officers will examine the purchase memos of the dealers/traders and wholesale as well as retail price charges.
