Assam Scholarship 2023-24

With the active support of the Ministries of Tribal Affairs, Social Welfare, and Backward Class Welfare, the Assam Scholarship program was established to enable students to pursue studies from grade 9 to grade 12 or from an undergraduate to a graduate degree. Students who fall under the beneficiary categories—such as SC, ST, and OBC—will be awarded this scholarship.

Under the Assam stipend, students pursuing pre- and post-matric classes would get variable stipend amounts. Approximately seventeen different types of scholarships have been introduced as subsidiary scholarship programs to ensure that students with each beneficiary class, degree, or beneficiary category can receive their advantages.

Objectives Of Assam Scholarship Scheme

The major objective of launching the Assam Scholarship is to provide financial help and support to students belonging to Underprivileged communities so that their parents will be able to send their children for gaining education from schools for pursuing pre and post-matric classes. Students will be able to reach a progressive stage of their education.

Another objective of launching the Assam Scholarship is to provide variable scholarship amounts to the SC, ST & OBC students so that they will be able to pursue their schooling or college studies after getting the scholarship amounts. The students will be given the scholarship amount on the basis of the group, and the course they are pursuing.

Assam Scholarship Selection Procedure

The students or scholars will be selected on the basis of the selection procedure. The students will need to excel in their academic education or qualifications in other words we can say that the last or previous year’s marks or records will be used at the time of selecting the eligible beneficiary. Preferences will be given first to those who belong to the beneficiary categories.

Payment Mechanism

In order to forbid the issues of corruption, the Government of Assam has strictly directed all the concerned officials to transfer the amount of scholarship directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. This will be transferred in the form of DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). For this, the government has provided an “e-payment System” through which the payment will be transmitted.  

Duration & Renewal Of Scholarship Awards

For getting the amount of benefit under the scholarship scheme, the applicant will need to secure 75% of the attendance in the school attendance record in his/her respective class. After getting enrollment, a scholarship will be provided to the scholar for only 1 one. In case the scholar or student has got fails while conducting the exam then he/she will not provide the amount of scholarship same applied in case of repeating the class.

General Information 

Some of the general Information issued by the government are as follows:- 

• This pre-matric scholarship will be provided to the ST student for 1 year. 
• If the student fails in the present class then he/she will not be able to get a scholarship renewal again. 
• Students will get the scholarship amount based on good academic performance. 
• Provisions regarding the continuation of scholarships can be changed at any time. 
• The selection body will prepare the list of eligible beneficiaries after scrutinizing the documents and necessary forms submitted by them. 
• Students will be able to get scholarship amounts in the cashless format due to the adoption of the PFMS system. 

Benefits Of Assam Scholarship Scheme

The benefits of this scholarship are as follows: –

• Assam Scholarship will provide financial help and support to the students who belong to the SC, ST, PWD & OBC communities.
• There are around 17 scholarships launched in the form of a list that will be provided to the students.
• Students will be able to get or receive the scholarship amounts on the basis of the student or beneficiary category undertaken by them.
• The students will be able to receive this scholarship amount for the duration of 10 or 12 months.
• Reader allowance of Rs. 175/- will be provided to the Blind students falling under Group A and B.
• Students carrying out UG degrees will be given scholarship amounts of Rs.210/- to Rs. 400/- on the monthly basis.
• Both girls and boys will be given an amount of Rs. 2500/- to Rs. 3000/- for carrying out professional studies under the PMS for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.
• Students of NER will be given a scholarship amount of Rs. 5400/- to Rs. 7200/- for undertaking professional courses.
• Hostellers will be given a slightly higher rate of scholarship as compared to the scholars.
• Those students who have applied before the last date will be able to get timely registration offered under the Assam Scholarship.

Features Of Assam Scholarship

The features of this scholarship are as follows: –

• The State Government of Assam has launched the Assam Scholarship.
• This scholarship will only be provided to students residing in the Assam state.
• There are around 17 scholarships covered in the form of subsidiary scholarship initiatives.
• The student must belong to the major categories such as SC, ST, OBC and PWD
• Scholarships will be given to the students on the basis of courses or classes undertaken by them.
• This is mandatory for the students or applicants for carrying out the selection procedure by going through the selection parameters.
• There are around 100 seats or quotas that have been reserved for the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Scholarship For Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.
• The scholarship amount provided to the students will cover the major allowances.
• A total of 1902 scholarship seats or quotas have been reserved for the students covering major scholarships.
