The Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab has recently launched the Voter List Punjab in order to make awareness about the scheduling of Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections that are soon going to take place in their respective assembly constituencies. Having a Voter ID Card is a must for getting for enrollment vote in the polling booth.
Punjab Election Voter List has been launched under the supervision of the State Government of Punjab. Under this list, the names of all those applicants will get displayed who have recently applied for the voter ID Card. Objectives Of Punjab Election Voter List 2023
One of the main and primary objective of launching Voter List Punjab is to provide a sufficient no. of details along with the names of voters who have been considered eligible for voting on the online platform provided by the governmental authorities. They can access various electoral services by accessing a single platform.
Another objective of launching the Punjab Voter List is also to put emphasis on the time-consuming process and also bring transparency and as well as accountability to the flexibility of election processes. RTI Act will assist each voter in getting to know each facility provided by them. This will also save time as well as money.

Identification Of Voters At Polling Stations
There are some documents required during the identification of voters at the polling station. These are: –

Voter Information Slip (VIS)
For providing easiness in the work of identification of the voters at the Polling Station, Government has facilitated VIS stands for Voter Information Slip which will contain all the details regarding the voter such as the Serial number of the electoral roll of the polling station, date of poll and time, etc. District Election Officer will be allotted the task of distributing VIS 5 days before the date of the polling process.
Braille Voter Information Slips
For securing the interests of the voters belonging to the Person With Disability Category, the government has also provided them a Braille Voter Information Slip. This slip will also work the same as the VIS works in the case of a normal person. This slip will be issued to every person who has a visual impairment, any kind of disability and locomotive disability, etc.
Voter Guide
The government has also made a provision to provide and distribute Voter Guides among the voters who are soon going to vote in an election campaign. This Voter Guide will contain all the details regarding the election procedure such as the date and time of the polls, contact details of the BLOs, important websites, and helpline numbers as well as important documents required for the identification process at the polling station.
Nomination Process
Information has been received that the nomination process will be conducted through an online platform mode. All information will be uploaded on the website of the CEO. Candidates can also submit their security money with the help of online mode. Candidates can also seek an elector certification for the purpose of nomination online. There will be only 2 persons which will be accompanied the candidate for the submission of the nomination process.
Polling Station Arrangements
The following arrangements will be provided at each polling station during the election campaign: –
- Sanitization of the polling station before the date of the polling process.
- Thermal checking of voters will be done at the entry point of each polling station by the polling staff.
- At the last hour of the poll, those candidates will be given the voting opportunity that has to get the temperature above the set norms of MoHF&W.
- A help Desk will be constituted for providing help and support to the new voters.
- Social Distancing will be maintained.
- Booth App will be used at the polling station.
- Face Masks will be distributed among those voters who don’t have the mask.
- Hand Gloves will also be provided to them during the polling process.
Voter Facilitation Poster
For providing proper awareness among the voters and new or beginner voters, the government has made provisions to posters must be displayed at all Polling Stations. Instead of this Chief Electoral Officer will be allotted the task of ensuring that Covid-19 related safety measures posters must be displayed at each Polling Station for voters’ awareness.
Voter Assistance Booths (VAB)
For providing voting assistance-related help and support government has also provided us with the facility of Voter Assistance Booths (VABs) so that the voters will be able to locate their polling booths with the help of the polling booth and serial number mentioned on their Voter Information Slip (VIS). Booth Level Officers will be there to assist them.
Vote Counting Process
Thermal Scanning and sanitization facility will be provided at the counting center while maintaining social distancing. The counting hall will contain around 7 counting tables. The counting center will be disinfected before, during, and after the vote-counting process. An additional number of AROs may be required during the counting of Postal Ballots. Counting of votes will be done under the supervision of Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer.
Conduction Of Mock Poll On Poll Day
Around 50 votes will be provided with the opportunity of casting vote in the mock poll during the actual date of the poll. Mock Poll will be held 90 minutes before the start of the actual poll. This mock poll will be conducted at every polling station. After the completion of the Mock Poll, data of the mock poll will be get deleted by pressing the clear button on the control unit.
