Financial assistance is provided in the form of scholarships, which will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries. All those students who want to undertake post and pre-matric classes while belonging to underprivileged communities such as SC and ST can apply online for the Meghalaya Scholarship for getting the scholarship amounts offered to them in the form of financial help and support. Each Indian student will be offered variable scholarship amounts on the basis of the class undertaken by them.

The state government of Meghalaya has launched the Meghalaya Scholarship Scheme for students belonging to the ST & SC categories. There are 8 kinds of scholarships that will be provided to students studying at the school level. The scholarship amount will be transferred in the mode of DBT. This scholarship will be beneficial to students belonging to underprivileged communities.

Objectives Of Meghalaya Scholarship

The primary objective of launching the Meghalaya Scholarship Scheme is to provide a platform by which the students belonging to the Scheduled caste and tribal communities will be able to fulfill their dreams of pursuing a high level of education because the government will grant them the scholarship amount directly to their bank account numbers.

Another objective of launching the Meghalaya Scholarship is to reduce the dropout rate and increase the literacy rates among underprivileged communities such as SC and ST students so that they will be able to undertake studies with the help of scholarship amounts for which they will not have to leave their studies.

Beneficiary Categories

The student or applicant must belong to that beneficiary category that has been set up or fixed by the selection body because the government has set up some restrictions on the disbursement of scholarship amounts. This scholarship will only be provided to students belonging to the SC and ST categories.

Candidates who are going to undertake a Diploma in Elementary Education will need to possess the age limit fixed by the selection body. The selection body has fixed the age limit from 18 to 27 years. Age relaxation will be provided to the beneficiary categories such as SC, ST, OBC and PWD for 5 years.

Benefits Of Meghalaya Scholarship Scheme 

The benefits of this scholarship are as follows:- 

  • Meghalaya Scholarship will provide financial assistance to the students for carrying out school and college-based studies.
  • Students will be able to get scholarship enrollment offered under any one subsidiary scholarship out of 8.
  • Both SC and ST students will be given variable scholarship amounts.
  • Hostelers will be given scholarships slightly higher than the scholarship amount given to the scholars.
  • SC scholars will be given financial assistance of Rs. 225/- per month for carrying out classes 9th and 10th.
  • The scholarship amount of Rs. 150/- to Rs. 350/- on the monthly basis will be provided to the ST students for undertaking pre-matric classes 9th and 10th.
  • This will secure the interests of the students residing in the Meghalaya state.
  • On the basis of student type, the students will be able to get the scholarship amounts.
  • The students will need to apply online under the Meghalaya Scholarship before the last date for online form submission.
  • Age relaxation will be given to the students belonging to the categories such as SC, ST, OBC and PWD.

Features Of Meghalaya Scholarship 

The features of this scholarship are as follows:- 

  • The State Government of Meghalaya has launched the Meghalaya Scholarship.
  • A list of 8 scholarships will be offered to the students in the form of subsidiary scholarship initiatives.
  • This scholarship will only be provided to students residing in the Meghalaya state.
  • The student must belong to the SC and ST communities.
  • A scholarship amount of Rs. 10,000/- will be given to the candidates carrying out the Diploma in Elementary Education.

Umbrella Scheme For Education Of St Children – Post-Matric Scholarship (Pms) For St Students – MeghalayaThe student must belong to the ST community and must be pursuing classes from the 11th onwards and have an annual income limit of Rs. 2.50 lakhs.  
Scholarship For Pre-Service Student Teacher Under D.El.Ed Course-MeghalayaThe candidate must have passed class 12th with 50% marks and now he or she must be pursuing a Diploma in Elementary Education falling under the age group from 18 to 27 years.
STSE For Tribal Students(Class Ix And X) In Mathematics And Science Award-MeghalayaThe student must belong to the ST category and must be pursuing classes 9th and 10th while securing 50% marks in the Maths and Science subject in the class 7th from the recognized school.
Award For Meritorious Tribal Student- HSSLC Science-MeghalayaThe ST student must have secured good marks in the 12th exam and must belong to the areas such as Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, Koch and Hajong.
Centrally Sponsored Scheme Of Pre Matric Scholarship For Sc Students (Class Ix & X) -MeghalayaThe student must be pursuing classes 9th and 10th belonging to the SC category and having an annual parental income of Rs. 2,50,000/-.
Centrally Sponsored Scheme Of Post Matric Scholarship For Sc Students-MeghalayaThis scholarship will be provided to the students of SC who must be pursuing post-matric classes and must possess an annual income of Rs. 2,50,000/-.
ISHAN UDAY Scholarship For NERThe student must belong to NER states such as Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland & Tripura pursuing General Courses, Professional and Vocational courses having an annual income limit of Rs. 4,50,000/-.
