Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2024

The government launched the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Scheme to encourage post-matriculated students to choose the science stream as their career. Under this scheme, students can receive financial aid for pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science after having the scholarship money transferred to their bank account number.

The KVPY was introduced by the DST (Department of Science & Technology) to enable students trying to pursue degrees such as BSc, B.Tech, and MBBS in their first year of study to receive a monthly scholarship amount in addition to a contingency allowance. The subjects that have been selected are biology, math, chemistry, and physics.

The primary objective of launching the KVPY is to inspire and promote the adoption of basic sciences among bachelor’s and master’s degree holders so that they will be able to pursue or undertake BSc, MSc, B.Tech and MBBS degrees with the help of fellowship amounts and contingency amounts provided to them on the monthly and yearly basis.

Another objective of launching the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is to conduct an Aptitude Test for the selection of meritorious students through which the candidates will be selected for providing scholarships so that they will be able to pursue their bachelor’s or master’s degree from the science background field.  One can apply online before the last date.

Conduction Of Aptitude Test

For the selection of eligible beneficiaries and meritorious students, the Institute of Science Technology will soon conduct the Aptitude Test which will judge and evaluate the aptitude, skills and knowledge of the students conducting the exam. The marks obtained by the student in this exam will be the selection criteria for him to get the scholarship amount provided by the government to them.

Benefits Of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 

The benefits of this scholarship are as follows:- 

• Students from a science background will be given scholarships for pursuing their further studies. 
• Students holding science streams in the classes 11th and 12th will be provided scholarships under the KVPY. 
• Motivation will be provided to the students for selecting the Science stream in their bachelor’s studies. 
• The Fellowship amount of Rs. 5,000/- will be given to the bachelor’s degree holders in the science stream.
• Students belonging to the SC, ST, OBC and General Category will be given main priority for applying.
• Scholarships will be provided on the monthly basis for 12 months (1 year). 
• Students will be selected for providing scholarships based on their marks obtained by them on the Aptitude Test. 
• Students belonging to the PWD category will be considered eligible for applying under the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana.
• Students will be able to get receive this fellowship amounts on the monthly basis.
• A contingency allowance will also be offered to the fellows on an annual basis.

Features Of KVPY 

The features of this scholarship are as follows:- 

• The Department of Science & Technology has launched the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana. 
• This scheme will promote the adoption of the science stream as the main career aspiration among the students pursuing classes 11th and 12th. 
• Only the students belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, PWD and General Category will be permitted to apply under this scholarship.
• The student must be pursuing UG and PG degree in the basic science streams.
• The Aptitude Test will determine the beneficiaries which student should get the scholarship amount or which not. 
• Students will need to pay out the application fee charged to them at the time of making registration online. 
• An amount of Rs. 5,000/- per month in the form of scholarships will be provided to the students pursuing Bsc/ Msc in the 1st to 3rd semester. 
• Students in the 4th to 5th semester will be given the scholarship amount of Rs. 7,000/- per month for the 1 year.
• The students will need to go through the exam pattern and details regarding the aptitude test.
• Students securing good or qualifying marks will be able to get scholarship assistance under the KVPY. 

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Eligibility Criteria 

The applicant will need to follow the mentioned below eligibility criteria for getting online registration under the KVPY Scholarship:- 

• The applicant must be a citizen of India. 
• The applicant must belong to the categories of SC, ST, OBC and General category. 
• Students who have opted for the science stream in their classes 11th and 12th will be considered eligible for getting scholarship assistance. 
• Students studying in classes 10th, 11th and 12th will need to secure 75%, 60% and 50% in the examination. 
• Students pursuing BSc/ B.Stat/B.Math from the SC/ST/PWD category will need to secure 50% to 60% in the examination.
