This scholarship has covered around 9 scholarships in the form of subsidiary scholarship initiatives so that the students belonging to the different categories will be able to get the scholarship assistance.

The state government of Mizoram has launched the Mizoram Scholarship. This scholarship has been launched so that the government will be able to provide social security as well as economic welfare to the students who fall under the categories of underrepresented sections of society. Objectives Of Mizoram Scholarship

The major objective of launching the Mizoram Scholarship is to provide proper educational opportunities to students suffering from a lack of monetary funds due to which they are not able to fulfill their dreams of pursuing a higher course of study. With this scholarship, the students will be able to upgrade their educational standards.

Another objective of launching the Mizoram Scholarship is to provide financial stability to such a student who would not be able to get paid out their admission or school fees due to poverty which results in leaving out their school and also causes dropout rates. For filling these gaps the government has launched such an initiative.

Reduction In Corruption Issues 

The government will reduce corruption issues by introducing Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for providing scholarship amounts to eligible beneficiaries. Scholarships will only be provided to those students who have linked their bank account numbers with their aadhar numbers. Adoption of the DBT system can reduce corruption or malpractices among the fraudulent.

Variable Assistance 

The scholarship amount provided to the student or beneficiary may be varying which will be based on the scholarship plan he/she holds. For example, some students have applied for the Merit Scholarship and others have applied for the Post-Matric Scholarship due to the difference in educational qualification, the amount of scholarship will also be varying. 

Formation Of INSPIRE Program 

The Department of Science & Technology has managed or maintained the INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) for attracting talent to science. This program has been created to provide some form of guidance to students pursuing college degrees from a science background to begin their careers in the science field.

Benefits Of Mizoram Scholarship Scheme 

The benefits of this scholarship are as follows:- 

  • Mizoram Scholarship will provide scholarship amounts to the students belonging to the under-reserved categories.
  • A list of 9 scholarships will be provided to the students for applying.
  • This list will contain some fellowships for the PhD scholars.
  • The fellowship scheme will cover monthly stipends and research grants.
  • Scholarship schemes will cover tuition fee, maintenance allowances, admission fees and scholarship amounts.
  • Students will be able to get the scholarship amounts on the monthly basis.
  • Financial assistance of Rs. 3,000/- on an annual basis will be provided to the ST/SC students for pursuing pre-matric classes.
  • The scholarship amounts provided to the students will cover major allowances.

Features Of Mizoram Scholarship 

The features of this scholarship are as follows:- 

  • The Government of Mizoram has launched the Mizoram Scholarship.
  • This scholarship will be provided to the residents residing in the Mizoram state.
  • This scholarship will be applicable to students holding categories such as SC, ST, OBC and Minority.
  • There are around 9 scholarships covered in the form of subsidiary scholarship initiatives.
  • There are around 5 fellowships out of 9 scholarship programs.
  • Admission fees of Rs. 500/- per month will be provided to the students of SC, ST, OBC and Minority categories for undertaking classes from 6th to 10th.
  • Both JRFs and SRFs will be given the fellowship amounts on a monthly basis and research grants or contingency allowance on a yearly basis.
  • The eligible NER states will be Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, AR, Sikkim, etc.
  • The scholars will be urged to apply online under the Manipur Scholarship before the last date.

Eligibility Criteria 

The applicant will need to attain the mentioned below eligibility criteria for getting online registration under the Mizoram Scholarship:-

Pre Matric Scholarship (ST/SC/OBC, Minority Community)The student must be a permanent citizen of Mizoram state belonging to the SC/ST/OBC/Minority category studying in between the classes 1st to 10th having an annual income between Rs. 1 lakhs to Rs. 2.5 lakhs. The students will need to secure at least 50% marks in the last year’s examination.
Post Matric Scholarship (ST/SC/OBC, Minority Community)The student must be studying in class from 11th to 12th and have OBC/Minority/SC/ST quota in the school has an annual income between Rs. 1 lakhs to Rs. 2.5 lakhs. The students will need to secure at least 50% marks in the last year’s examination.
Merit Cum Means Scholarship (ST/SC/OBC, Minority Community)Only the meritorious students belonging to the SC/ST/OBC/Minority category will be given scholarships having an annual income between Rs. 1 lakhs to Rs. 2.5 lakhs. The students will need to secure at least 50% marks in the last year’s examination.
Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (ST/SC)Students must be pursuing fellowship programs such as M.Phil and Ph.D. in the fields such as Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences and Engineering & Technology belonging to the caste such as Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste.
UGC NET JRFStipends will be provided to the students pursuing JRF and SRF under the University Grants Commission securing 55% of the minimum marks in the previous year’s examination having the age of 30 years.
Inspire ScholarshipThis scholarship will be provided to students carrying out bachelor’s or master’s degrees in the natural sciences securing a rank under 10,000 in the AIEEE exam possessing the age limit of 17 to 22 years.
Maulana Azad National Fellowship (Minority)The student must be a candidate of the Minority community carrying out an M.Phil or Ph.D. course from a recognized university securing 55% marks at the PG level and having an annual income of Rs. 6/- lakhs. 
CSIR JRFThe student must be carrying out fellowship programs such as a Junior Research Fellowship or Lectureship or Assistant Professor having 50% to 55% of the marks in the previous year’s examination. The age of the scholar must be 28 or above.
NEC Merit ScholarshipThe student must be pursuing an M.Phil or Ph.D. program from a recognized university/college having an annual income of Rs. 4.5/- lakhs securing 70% off marks in the previous year’s examination.  The scholar must belong to the NER regions such as Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland & Sikkim, Tripura
