The National Defence Academy has launched the NDA Scholarship Scheme so that students who want to pursue their careers in the army or defense field will be able to get the training facilities provided by the government without bearing the training fees charged by the training authority. For providing army and Defence Education Services to students who have dreamed of pursuing their career aspirations in the army field, the government has launched the NDA Scholarship so that students belonging to the economically weaker sections of society may be able to get financial assistance provided by the government in the form of scholarships. 

The students who want to pursue their fields or careers in the Army or Navy fields can apply online under the NDA Scholarship for getting the variable scholarship amounts offered in each of the subsidiary scholarship initiatives under this scholarship. Students will be inspired for carrying out the Army test or examination.

Objectives Of NDA Scholarship

The primary objective of launching the NDA Scholarship Scheme is to provide encouragement and motivation among students belonging to the economically weaker section of society for pursuing and continuing their education in the army or Defence Services without having to think about their economical instability because the government provides them with scholarship initiatives. 

Another objective of launching the NDA Scholarship is to provide a single integrated portal and interface by which students from different states will be able to get access to the scholarship schemes offered by the National Defence Academy for students who want to start their careers in the army or defense field and also want to undertake the army training facility.

Some Other NDA Scholarships 

The list of some other scholarships are as follows:-

  • Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme:- The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme is a prestigious scholarship program initiated by the Government of India. Under this scheme, scholarships are awarded to the dependent wards of ex-servicemen and ex-Coast Guard personnel pursuing professional degree courses, including engineering, medical, dental, veterinary, MBA, MCA, and other equivalent courses. The scholarship amount is INR 2,250 per month for boys and INR 2,500 per month for girls. A total of 5,500 scholarships are awarded annually, with 150 scholarships reserved for NDA cadets. The selection process is based on merit and financial need.
  • Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) Scholarships:- The Army Welfare Education Society offers scholarships to children of serving and retired Army personnel, including NDA cadets. These scholarships aim to provide financial support for higher education in professional courses. AWES scholarships are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The selection process is based on merit and financial need. The scholarship amount varies depending on the course and level of study.
  • Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) Scholarships:- The Air Force Wives Welfare Association provides scholarships to the children of serving and retired Air Force personnel, including NDA cadets. These scholarships are awarded to students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The selection process for AFWWA scholarships is based on merit and financial need.   • Navy Children School Scholarships:- The Navy Children School (NCS) offers scholarships to students studying in NCS who are children of serving and retired Naval personnel, including NDA cadets. These scholarships aim to promote excellence in education and provide financial assistance to deserving students. The selection process for NCS scholarships is based on academic performance and financial need. The scholarship amount varies depending on the course and level of study.
  • Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Scholarships:- The Armed Forces Flag Day Fund provides scholarships to the wards and widows of ex-servicemen, including NDA cadets. These scholarships are awarded to students pursuing professional courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The selection process for Armed Forces Flag Day Fund scholarships is based on merit and financial need. The scholarship amount varies depending on the course and level of study.
  • Army ROTC Scholarships :– The Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships provide financial assistance to students pursuing a degree at a college or university. These scholarships cover full tuition and fees, as well as provide a monthly stipend for living expenses. In exchange, recipients commit to serving in the Army as commissioned officers upon graduation.
  • Air Force ROTC Scholarships :- The Air Force ROTC scholarships are similar to the Army ROTC scholarships, but they are specifically designed for students interested in joining the Air Force. These scholarships cover full tuition and fees, provide a monthly stipend, and also offer opportunities for summer training programs. Recipients commit to serving in the Air Force after completing their degree.
  • Navy ROTC Scholarships:-  The Navy ROTC scholarships are available for students who wish to pursue a career in the Navy or Marine Corps. These scholarships cover full tuition and fees, provide a monthly stipend, and offer opportunities for summer training programs. Recipients commit to serving in the Navy or Marine Corps upon graduation.
  • Marine Corps ROTC Scholarships:-  The Marine Corps ROTC scholarships are specifically designed for students interested in becoming officers in the Marine Corps. These scholarships cover full tuition and fees, provide a monthly stipend, and offer opportunities for summer training programs. Recipients commit to serving in the Marine Corps after completing their degree.
  • Coast Guard Scholarships:- The Coast Guard offers several scholarship programs for students interested in pursuing a career in the Coast Guard. These scholarships cover full tuition and fees, provide a monthly stipend, and offer opportunities for summer training programs. Recipients commit to serving in the Coast Guard upon graduation.

Beneficiary Category

The applicant or beneficiary who is going to apply for this scholarship will need to know in advance that this scholarship will be applicable to the NDA Cadets carrying out training or who have cleared the NDA exam after securing some decent ranks. Age Limit

The beneficiary who is going to apply for this scholarship will need to make sure that the age limit possessed by them is as per the age limit or group that has been specified by the selection body which means the applicant must be falling under the age group of 16 to 18 years.

Difference In Transferral Of Scholarship 

The scholarship amount provided to the cadets undertaking army or navy training from the National Defence Academy may get the scholarship amount either be based on monthly or yearly. Some scholarships provide the scholarship amount to the cadet on the monthly basis and others provide it on the yearly basis. So this makes a lot of difference in the transferral of scholarship amount. 

140 Cadet Students Cleared NDA Exam 

Around 140 no. of Cadet students have cleared and qualified for the NDA exam from the state of Uttarakhand. The Department of Higher Education is going to give 50,000 to each cadet student of NDA in the form of scholarships directly transferred to their bank account numbers. Soon free coaching will be provided to them for undertaking the training at the NDA.

Fee Reimbursement of NDA Training 

After getting enrollment under anyone out of the NDA Scholarship offered by the relevant state governments, the government will provide them with free of cost training facilities for their stay at NDA. For this, the students who want to pursue their career in the Army or Navy field will need to clear the NDA exam.

NDA Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
