The Ministry of Railway has launched the Prime Minister Special Scholarship so that the students will be able to pursue technical or professional courses after getting the scholarship amounts offered to them. This scholarship will be provided only to the wards of RPF/RPSF. Around 150 students were able to get the scholarship in the year 2015 to 2016.

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme 2024

For securing the interests of students belonging to the dependent wards of Ex/Serving RPF/RPSF personnel and widows (below the Rank of Gazetted officer), PMSS has been launched so that students belonging to these categories will be able to pursue their professional or technical courses with the help of scholarship assistance provided by the government to them.

The Ministry of Railway has launched the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme so that the government will be able to provide scholarships to students who want to pursue technical and higher professional courses from the universities approved by the University Grants Commission. There are around 7 beneficiary categories classified for the selection of an eligible beneficiary so that the government will be able to provide the scholarship amounts.

Objectives Of Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme

The main objective of launching the PMSS is to provide scholarships to the wards or widows of RPF/RPSF personnel who died or serving in the service so that they will be able to get the scholarship amounts provided to them for undertaking professional and technical courses. Variable scholarship amounts will be provided to the beneficiary on the basis of the gender to which they belong to.

Another objective of launching the Prime Minister Special Scholarship is to provide a monthly scholarship amount of Rs. 2500/- to males and Rs. 3,000/- to females so that those belonging to the RPF/RPSF wards they will be able to get admission to the courses and study fall under the professional and technical degrees. The tenure of the scholarship amount will be 2 to 5 years.

Beneficiary Types 

There are 2 beneficiary types as per follows:-

  • Renewal Applicants
  • Fresh Applicants 

Beneficiary Limitation 

There will also be a limit on the beneficiaries who will be able to get an online registration for this scheme for getting laptops provided by the government to them. A target of covering around 5500 students has been set up or fixed by the government; which means around 5500 excellent students will be able to get laptops.

Promotion of Professional Studies 

This will promote the adoption of professional as well as technical degrees or studies among the students belonging to the different categories of beneficiaries. The students will be inspired to pursue professional courses regardless of their financial stability due to which their Central Armed Police Forces members have died or been martyred. 

Continuation Of Scholarship 

The students can continue the scholarship amounts after the scholarship duration has been completed. For this, they will need to apply online for the scholarship renewal by which they will be able to continue the scholarship amounts for receival. Students will need to secure or satisfy the required academic excellence.

Gender Wise Scholarship Rate

The details of the scholarship amount provided to each gender are as follows:-

Scholarship Tenure

Each eligible beneficiary will be given or offered the scholarship amount on the basis of scholarship tenure which has been fixed by the selection body. This scholarship will be provided to the student on the monthly basis for the tenure or term period of 2 to 5 years. The course undertaken by the student will also define the scholarship tenure.

Minimum Marks Cut Off

The students will also need to secure or possess the minimum marks in the last year’s exam which he or she attended for the last time. The beneficiary category and the course of study undertaken by the student will not only be sufficient, but the students will also need to secure at least 60% marks in the last year’s exam.

Two-Step Verification Processes

The verification process carried out by the delegated authorities will be based on the two-step:-

  • 1st Step Verification = INO
  • 2nd Step Verification = ZNO

Required Formalities For Scholarship Renewal

The students will need to satisfy the mentioned below formalities for scholarship renewal:-

  • The students will need to secure at least 50% marks in the previous year’s exam.
  • The applicants will need to pass each subject in each year or semester in case of a college student in the first attempt without having any gap.

Benefits Of Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme 

The benefits of this scholarship are as follows:- 

  • Lakhs of students will be able to fulfill their dreams of pursuing technical and professional courses. 
  • Financial assistance will be provided to the student who wants to pursue technical and professional courses under the PMSS.
  • Educational services and support will also be provided to those students who have lost their parents in the wars. 
  • Girl Students will be given a scholarship amount of Rs. 3000/- every year on the monthly basis. 
  • The scholarship amount of Rs. 2500/- will be provided to the Boy’s Students every year on the monthly basis. 
  • There are around 5500 beneficiaries who will be able to apply online under this scholarship. 
  • Beneficiaries can check their names in the beneficiary list.
  • One can apply online under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme by 15th December 2021.
  • The highest priority will be given to the girl’s communities. 
  • The course undertaken by the student will also define the scholarship tenure.

Features Of PMSS

The features of this scholarship are as follows:-

  • The Ministry of Railway has launched the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme.
  • An amount of Rs. 3000/- per month will be offered to the girl’s students pursuing technical or professional courses.
  • Boys students will be offered an amount of Rs. 2500/- in the form of a scholarship on the monthly basis. 
  • The government has also set up some limits on the number of beneficiaries who will be able to apply online under this scholarship. Around 5500 eligible beneficiaries will be able to get registration for getting a scholarship amount.
  • This scholarship will be provided to the student on the monthly basis for the tenure or term period of 2 to 5 years.
  • There are 7 kinds of beneficiary categories made by the authorities in alphabetical sequence.

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Criteria 

The applicants will need to follow the mentioned below eligibility criteria for getting online registration under PMMS:-

  • The applicant must be a permanent citizen of India. 
  • The student must be pursuing a technical or professional course. 
  • The applicant or candidate must belong to those beneficiary categories which has been fixed by the selection body.
  • The student must have secured 60% of the minimum marks in the previous year’s examination. 
  • This scholarship will also be applicable to the child of a dependent ward/widow of deceased CAPFs & AR/ Ex-CAPFs & AR/ retired and serving CAPFs & AR/ State Police Personnel.
