Objectives Of Bright Futures Scholarship
The major objective of launching the Bright Futures Scholarship is to provide scholarships to students based on their merit performance by which they will be able to get admission to the University of Florida to carry out a UG or Bachelor’s degree in the o offered fields.
Another objective of launching the Bright Futures Scholarship is to offer lottery-based scholarships to the high academically meritorious students by which they will be able to continue their studies after the completion of their high schooling. The students will be given scholarships for enrolling in at least six credit hours per semester.
Beneficiary Category
This scholarship will be awarded only to those students who have fulfilled the parameters of the beneficiary category for which this scholarship has been launched. This scholarship will be provided to students who want to carry out an undergraduate or bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida after receiving an admission offer or letter.

Credit Load, GPA, & Course Completion
To be eligible for scholarships, students must meet certain requirements. These include being enrolled for at least six credits per term (unless they need fewer to complete their degree program) and completing a minimum of 24 credits per year. Different scholarship levels have different GPA requirements and students must earn credits in all classes, unless they withdraw from the course.

Some Additional information issued for students is as follows:-
- Students can choose to defer their scholarship for up to 5 years if they are not ready to use it immediately after high school.
- If a student decides to join the military, they can delay using their scholarship for the entire duration of their enlistment, plus an extra 5 years.
- FAS or FMS students who finish their Bachelor’s Degree in 7 semesters or less are eligible for an opportunity to receive funding for one semester of study in a Graduate School program.
- The funding for the Graduate School program cannot exceed 15 semester credit hours or an equivalent amount of coursework.
Academic Requirements
The Bright Futures Scholarship sets high academic standards for eligibility. To qualify, students must have a minimum weighted GPA of 3.0 in the required high school courses. These courses include four years of English, four years of math (including Algebra I and II, Geometry, and a higher-level math course), three years of natural science (including two with a lab component), three years of social science, and two years of a foreign language.
