INSA Medal for Young Scientists 2024

An honorarium amount of Rs. 1,00,000/-, a medal and a certificate will be provided to the talented young Indian scientists who have contributed outstanding performance in the science or technology branch field under the INSA Medal for Young Scientists. The fellow must possess an age limit of 40 years. Around 40 scientists will be able to get the fellowships.

Now young scientists belonging to the age group of 40 years can apply online under the INSA Medal for Young Scientists for getting financial help and support provided by the members of INSA. There are around 40 candidates who will be selected among the fellows, faculty members of universities, and scientists working in research institutes.

Objectives of INSA Medal for Young Scientists

The main objective of launching the INSA Medal for Young Scientists is to provide an honorarium amount of Rs. 1, 00,000/- along with the medals to the young scientists, fellows, and faculty members of universities so that they will be able to collect some form of rewards and recognitions served by the members of INSA to them for their contribution towards the field of Science & Technology.

Another objective of launching the INSA Medal for Young Scientists is to provide motivation and encouragement to Young Scientists to carry out some more research and inventions in the field of Science and technology after receiving an honorarium amount of Rs. 1lakhs. The age of the beneficiary must not exceed 40 years.

Age Group

The authorities or members of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) have also kept some age limits for the scientists or beneficiaries who are going to get online registration under the INSA Medal for Young Scientists. The applicants will need to possess the age limit specified by the selection body. The applicant must belong to the age group of 40 years.

Beneficiary Limitation

The selection body or entity has also set up some limitations on the beneficiaries who will be considered eligible for applying. INSA Medal for Young Scientists Scholarship Amount

Eligible beneficiaries such as fellows, faculty members of universities, and scientists working in research institutes will receive the scholarship amounts in the form of honorarium amounts fixed by the selection body. Scientists will be given an honorarium amount of Rs. 1, 00,000/- along with the medal rewarded by the selection body. The amount will be given to them during the annual general meeting held in December.

INSA Medal for Young Scientists Selection Procedure

The candidates or applicants will be selected on the basis of the selection procedure fixed by the selection body for the selection of eligible beneficiaries. In the first step, the scientists will need to submit their research work before the Selection Committee.  Then, the selection committee will analyze the work report submitted by them. Selected beneficiaries will receive the scholarship amounts.

Selection Process for Candidates

In order to evaluate the candidates, referees will assign grades of Outstanding, Very Good, Average, or Unsuitable. The conveners of Sectional Committees will then compile a list of grades for each candidate and recommend up to seven candidates in order of merit for presentation of their work. To be eligible for presentation, a candidate must have received a grade of at least ‘B’ from 50% of the members who have submitted assessments, with input from at least five Sectional Committee members.

• Candidates invited to present their work will have the opportunity to do so before the members of the Sectional Committee, with efforts made to also include other experts such as Academy Fellows. These experts may offer their views to the Convener of the Committee if desired. Meetings of the Sectional Committees for these presentations typically take place in April or May, with one full day dedicated to the evaluation process.
• Candidates called for presentations will receive reimbursement for II AC return rail fare and local conveyance costs upon providing supporting documentation. This process ensures a fair and thorough evaluation of candidates’ work for consideration by the Sectional Committees.
