UGC Scholarship 2023
For securing the interests of students belonging to underprivileged communities so that they will be able to undertake a higher course of studies, UGC Scholarship has been launched covering 15 kinds of subsidiary scholarship initiatives. The students will be offered various courses of study at the time of getting admission to the PG and PhD degrees.
The University Grants Commission has launched the UGC Scholarship for awarding the scholarship amounts to the students pursuing or undertaking studies or degrees from the colleges across India that have been approved by the UGC. Variable scholarships & fellowships will be provided to the students. Age relaxations will be provided to the students of reserved categories.

Objectives Of UGC Scholarship
The primary objective of launching the UGC Scholarship is to provide scholarships to students aspiring to pursue or undertake a higher course of studies but can’t be able to do so due to the high fee-paying structure which results in dropping out of their studies. To such students, the UGC will start awarding scholarship or fellowship amounts.
Another objective of launching the UGC Scholarship is to provide variable fellowship and scholarship amounts to the students based on the enrollment or registration to that scholarship or fellowship for which they have applied for. The students will be awarded the scholarships on a monthly or yearly basis. Students can also get scholarships in one-time payment only.

Extension Of Last Date Of Application Registration
To get huge participation of the students at the college level, the Government has extended the last date to get online registration under the scholarship scheme offered by the UGC scholarship scheme. The last date to get online registration is 15th January 2022. Leftovers will be able to complete their gaps after getting registration before the last date of submission of the application form.

Formation Of National Testing Agency
The national testing agency is the autonomous body that has been created under the supervision of the University Grants Commission which will help in the conduction of the entrance exam for a student who wants to get admission to higher studies such as Fellowship programs. This agency will bring transparency, accountability, and portability to the delivery and acceptance of the test given by the students.
Objectives Of NTA
Some of the objectives of NTA are as follows:-
- This agency will help in testing the competency and potential of the students who have given exams to get admission to the fellowship programs.
- To bring transparency, efficiency and accountability to the conduction of tests in the standardization of test units.
- To identify the education gap in the education and research systems.
- To produce and research knowledge information in the educational and research sector.
Facilitation Of Grievance Redressal
For the facilitation of grievances redressal, the central government has provided a student grievance redressal helpline number so that the students will be able to lodge their grievances regarding the UGC-offered courses and other aspects after dialing this helpline number:- 1800-180-5522. No cost will be charged for calling this number because this helpline number is toll-free.
Benefits Of UGC Scholarship
The benefits of this scholarship are as follows:-
- UGC Scholarship will cover around 15 scholarships which will be provided to the students for applying.
- Students belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, PWDs and Minorities will be given the registrations.
- Contingency grants will be given to the students carrying out research.
- Some scholarships are given to the students on a monthly basis and some will be on an annual basis.
- The students will be able to carry out PhD degrees in the various courses.

Features Of UGC Scholarship Scheme
The features of this scholarship are as follows:-
- The University Grants Commission has launched the UGC Scholarship.
- A list of 15 scholarships has been covered in the form of subsidiary scholarship initiatives.
- This scholarship will be provided to the students of SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Minority communities.
- The students must be carrying out PG and PHD degrees.
- Out of 15 scholarships, there are around 11 fellowships reserved for the PhD scholars.
