Around 3000 girls will benefit from this scholarship, ensuring that they have access to educational opportunities regardless of their family situation.

The Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl was formed by the UGC in order to ensure that girls who are cared for by single mothers or fathers will have access to educational opportunities following their acceptance into the program. The scholarship funds will be distributed equally from among students. Thirty-year-old female students will be deemed eligible to apply.

This scholarship will be provided to them till the PG level of studies. 

Another objective of launching the PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl is to provide a scholarship amount of Rs. 36,200/- on an annual basis for the duration of 2 years so that single girl students will be able to carry out PG degree in the various courses after getting the scholarships. The students can apply online before the last date.

PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship Timelines

The timelines of this scholarship are as follows:-

Beneficiary Category

This scholarship will be provided to the student who has fulfilled the rules of the beneficiary category which will have to be bound to be followed by each student before applying for this scholarship. This scholarship will be provided to a single girl child who has been admitted to a regular or full-time master’s degree.

Age Limit

The beneficiary who is going to apply for this scholarship will need to make sure that the age limit possessed by them is as per the age limit or group that has been specified by the selection body which means the applicant must be 30 years or above.

Ineligible Beneficiaries

The lists of ineligible beneficiaries are as follows:-

• Students pursuing open and distance learning programs.
• Students exceeding the age limit of 30 years.
• Male or Boy category students.

PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship Coverage

PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship Amount

This scholarship will only be provided to the single girl child for pursuing study till the completion of the PG course of studies. She will receive this scholarship amount. This scholarship will only be applicable to the girl candidates. 

Tenure Of PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship Amount 

The scholarship amount will be provided to the girl student for the tenure of 2 years which implies that the beneficiary will receive the scholarship amount for 24 months. But in case of completion of the 1st semester, the student will need to get a renewal again for getting the scholarship for the next year.

Beneficiary Limitation

The delegated members or authorities of the UGC (University Grants Commission) have also set up some limitations on the number of beneficiaries who will be able to get successful enrollment or registration offered under this scholarship. A target of covering around 3000 students or scholars has been set up or fixed by the selection body.

Affixing Joining Report and Affidavit Is Must

The girl’s applicants will need to affix the Joining Report along with the Affidavit containing Stamp paper of Rs. 50/- which must contain the signature of the SDM or First Class Magistrate at the end of the affidavit. • The students must be enrolled in the 1st year of the PG degree.
