Under the Kerala Scholarship, approximately 14 scholarships are available for students from disadvantaged or backward communities. Objectives Of Kerala Scholarship

The main objective of launching the Kerala Scholarship is to provide scholarship funds to students so that they will not have to face economical crises at the time of gaining education or studies. The students will be able to get equitable access to each scholarship launched or covered in this scholarship.

Another objective of launching the Kerala Scholarship is to provide some financial help and support in the form of scholarship amounts to the students so that they will be able to uplift their educational standards after getting the scholarship amounts provided to them in the form of DBT. Around 14 scholarships will be offered to the students through subsidiary scholarship initiatives.

Scholarships for School Students:-

The list of scholarships for school students are as follows:-

1. State Merit Scholarship (SMS):-

The State Merit Scholarship is awarded by the Government of Kerala to students who have excelled academically in their SSLC (10th standard) examinations. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious students to pursue higher secondary education.

2. Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minority Communities:-

This scholarship is specifically designed for students belonging to minority communities such as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, and Jains. It is awarded to students studying in classes 1 to 10 and aims to encourage them to continue their education.

Scholarships for College Students

The list of scholarships for college students are as follows:-

1. Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students:-

Under this scheme, the Government of India provides scholarships to meritorious students from low-income families. The scholarship covers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and is awarded based on the student’s performance in their higher secondary or undergraduate examinations.

2. Kerala State Higher Education Scholarship (SHE):

The State Higher Education Scholarship is awarded by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala. It is available to undergraduate students pursuing courses in science, arts, and commerce streams. The scholarship is based on merit and financial need.

Scholarships for Postgraduate Students

The list of scholarships for PG students are as follows:-

1. Post Matric Scholarship for Minority Communities:-

Similar to the pre-matric scholarship, this scheme is for students belonging to minority communities pursuing postgraduate courses. The scholarship covers tuition fees, maintenance allowances, and other incidental expenses.

2. Kerala State Postgraduate Scholarship (SPGS):-

The State Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students pursuing postgraduate degrees in various disciplines. The scholarship aims to support students who wish to pursue higher education and excel in their chosen fields.

Scholarships for Research Scholars

The list of scholarships for phd students are as follows:-

1. Kerala State Research Scholarship (KSRP):-

The Kerala State Research Scholarship is offered to research scholars pursuing Ph.D. or M.Phil. programs in recognized institutions in Kerala. The scholarship provides financial assistance to scholars to carry out their research work.

2. Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST Candidates:-

This fellowship is provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) pursuing M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs. The fellowship aims to promote higher education among marginalized communities.

Beneficiary Category

The student or applicant will need to possess that beneficiary category that has been set up or fixed by the selection body. Minimum Marks Cut Off

The students will ensure the minimum marks cut off required in the last year’s or previous year’s examination in order to be considered eligible for getting the scholarship amounts. It is mandatory for all the students to secure at least 50% marks in the last or previous year’s examination because this will serve as a selection criterion.

Annual Income Limit

The annual income attained by the student will be considered by the selection body at the time of selection of the student. The student must possess that annual income that has been made mandatory in terms of their beneficiary category. The annual income of the student’s family must be between Rs. 2,00,000/- to Rs. 2,50,000/-.

Features Of Kerala Scholarship Scheme 2023-24

The features of this scholarship are as follows:-

The State Government of Kerala has launched the Kerala Scholarship.
This scholarship will only be provided to students residing in Kerala state.
There are around 14 scholarships covered in the form of subsidiary scholarship initiatives.
The student must belong to the PWD, Minority, and BPL communities.
This scholarship will be given to the students undertaking classes or degrees from class 11th to Ph.D. Degree.
PWD Students will be given the scholarship amount of Rs. 500/- per month.

Hindi Scholarship	The student must be pursuing a PG or Ph.D. degree of studies from a recognized college or university.
Muslim Nadar Girls Scholarship	The student must be a girl candidate belonging to the BPL family studying in UG/PG in the first year exam.
Sanskrit Scholarship	Students must be pursuing degree-level courses having Sanskrit as the main subject.
Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship	The student must be studying in UG/PG in the 1st year exam belonging to the Below Poverty Line category having 50% of the minimum marks in the previous year’s examinations.
Blind/PH Scholarship	The student must be a candidate of a Person With a Disability studying in a government-aided school or institution having an annual income of the family equal to Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
Music Fine Arts Scholarship	The student must be studying in government music colleges and government fine arts colleges.
Central Sector Scholarship	The student must belong to the EWS category and must be pursuing UG or PG Degree having an annual income limit of Rs. 2.50/- lakhs.
Aspire Scholarship	This scholarship will be given to the students belonging to the PWD communities who must be pursuing PG professional courses.
